It's just been one of those August and Everything After days. Decided to pick a special line from each song on the album, and this is what I came up with:
She says she's tired of life
She must be tired of something
Get right to the heart of matters
It's the heart that matters more
We all want something beautiful
Man, I wish I was beautiful
Gonna get me a little oblivion baby
Try to keep myself away from me
And every word is nonsense but I understand and
Oh lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing
Maybe someday, I won't be so lonely
And I'll walk on water every chance I get
Oh, it seems night endlessly begins and ends
After all the dreaming I come home again
Past the shadows that fall down wherever we meet
Pretty soon I won't come around
Love is a ghost train howling on the radio
"Remember everything" she said, "when only memory remains"
There’s things I remember and things I forget
I miss you I guess that I should
We were perfect when we started
I’ve been wondering where we’ve gone
Lyrically and musically, Adam is a genius. Glad he's around. August and Everything After is my favorite album ever.
Finally got the pictures posted on the Xanga...they still aren't working completely, but it's better than nothing. Monday found me at conditioning for volleyball tryouts bright and early (8 AM - the crack of dawn), but there were no volleyballs (?) And yes, there is a downside to being a girl. Ended up staying home that night because I didn't feel the best. Tuesday was the same drill as far as waking up, but I had to get registered for school. Saw George, Shae, Julia, and a bunch of other people. This year should be fun. Conditioning after that - I missed the mile...ooooooops! Helped the wee ones at Trinity with volleyball camp that night. Got to see Mal and Nicole, haven't seen them in forever! Wednesday - up early, conditioning, helped the kids again. Thursday, had conditioning and then came home and rode the bicycle, played volleyball, Alex and Chris and Keith came over from next door and visited. That was interesting. I FINISHED READING MY BOOK!!! It has to have been one of the longest books I've ever read - 498 pages. There are no words to describe it, really. It's absolutely beautiful. New favorite book! Friday I finally had a day off, woke up around 10 or 11. Geoff invited me to The Frantic Vim concert, and it was definitely something new! Quite a deal. Had a good time. Today was Holly's 30th birthday in St. Louis - she was surprised! Frank, her husband, wrote her the sweetest poem ever. Guys that write poetry for you = so sweet. Seriously, who doesn't want a guy to write poetry for them?!?! Absolutely charming. Got to see a bunch of family and Sadie and Cole, of course. Didn't get to stay up there because we would've gotten back too late on Sunday and tryouts are Monday. I need my adrenaline badly. I still have a whole day...hopefully it'll show up. And the mental preperation begins...
That's all for now
Keep it real
They're wakin up Maria cause everybody else has got some place to go
She makes a little motion with her head
Rolls over
And she says she's gonna sleep for a couple minutes more
I've said "I'm sorry" to Maria for all the cold hearted things that I have done
I've said "I'm sorry", by now, at least once to just about everyone
She says, "I've forgotten what I'm supposed to do today"
And it slips my mind what I'm supposed to say
We're getting older and older and older
And always a little further out of the way
You look into her eyes and it's more than your heart will allow
In August and Everything After, you get a little less than you expected, somehow...
